Q: What are the different types of hobs?
A: There are 5 different types of hob to choose from. Electric (Solid Plate), Ceramic, Gas, Induction and Domino hobs.
Q: Which is better between an induction and a ceramic hob?
A: An induction hob is safer, faster and more efficient than a ceramic hob but it does need special pans while a ceramic hob does not.
Q: How do you clean a ceramic/induction hob?
A: Remove all large bits with a hob scraper. Use a cloth to apply a layer of cooking vinegar. Then sprinkle baking soda over the top. Spray on some water and leave for 5-10 minutes. Never use anything that is abrasive.
Q: Can I install a hob myself?
A: It is highly recommended that you use a qualified electrician to fit your electric, ceramic and induction hob. A gas hob must be fitted by a R.G.I fitter.
Q: Are all hobs the same size?
A: Most hobs will have a standard depth and height. The width can vary depending on how many cooking zones is required. A downdraft hob will be much deeper.
